ABOUT

IMG_4370.JPG

Mali Mirzaei was born in Tehran, Iran, into a family of artists. As a young girl, she was passionate about art. However, art was not her only interest. As she grew older, she studied and pursued a career in law in Iran. However, her love for art did not fade. While practicing law, she studied under the mentorship of Ms. Susan Pedram, a master artist in sketching and in drawing using watercolors. Ms. Pedram taught Mali the importance of respecting properties of watercolor. As with life, watercolor is fluid and dynamic.

In 2011, she made the decision to immigrate to the United States. This decision was driven by her desire to gain more freedom in both her personal and artistic life. With this big transition in her life came great opportunities. One of these being the freedom to openly explore different philosophies of life which she would have been shunned for doing in Iran. She found herself entranced with Eastern philosophies such as Buddhism and Hinduism and thus has incorporated their messages of compassion, peace, and love in both her personal and artistic pursuits. Having been empowered by her newfound freedom as well as through the support of her loving husband, family, and friends she has been able to fully dedicate her career to the pursuit of her artistic interests.  Consequently, she left behind her career in law and earned an Associate degree in Fine Arts.

Today she spends her time painting with acrylic, oils, watercolors, pastels, charcoal, and pencil. She works on different mediums, including wood, canvas, wall, paper, metal, fabric, and cork. Her work has been displayed in numerous galleries, restaurants, yoga studios, businesses, and art shows. Mali takes great joy in sharing her art with others and often presents her art work personally at various art shows and venues.
